A friend of mine sent this to me. I won't be able to attend but thought I'd share it with anyone else that might be interested.

The DNR is planning on trappping and proessing Muskies for eggs again this year at Thornapple Lake, very interesting if you have never see it. They bring the fish up to shore to process, weigh, tag, measure and take the eggs, you will be surprised at the size of some of the fish in Thornapple Lake.

If you are interested I would get there about 930am-10am on April 7th at Charleton Park, there will be a small crowd so you should be able to find the location within the park ok, it is some distance back in the park.

Charleton Park is located just east of Hastings!

Thanks for the info post! Lived here and fished that lake for over 35 years and never had the time to check it out before. I have hooked but never landed some of those monsters over the years. Thanks again!!!!

Do you know if they will still be doing it if the weather is bad like they are calling for?

This is the first time that I've heard that they will be doing the take at the park. The DNR has used the boat launch on the south shore on most years. Is the south launch getting some work done to it?

If you've never seen the egg take you should, very impressive!! One year the biologist brought in a 8+ pound walleye just to show everyone on shore!! I know that one most years that it usually takes more than one day!

It was GREAT!!!! They netted 37 fish. I don't normally say this but the DNR guys were friendly and seemed more than happy to talk about what they were doing. I think they said the biggest one was 37#. They may not "milk" the fish but will be returning Thursday to net and check the electronic tagging devices in them. This experience was definitely worth it..... If anyone has the time I guarantee you would enjoy it:)

I called my son and he had the day off so he came in from B.C. He had never seen this before either. He grew up in the area and was amazed to see that big of fish come out of Thornapple.
It was good to see a lot of young people there. They will remember that for the rest of their lives. As time goes on the fish will keep getting bigger every time they tell the story:lol:
