Garmin won't initialize?

My trusty old Garmin 45XL ain't so trusty anymore, it won't latch on to satellites. I've worn out two sets of batteries trying. I did both an 'auto locate' and picked the state I am in from the menu, still no go.
Anyone know how to fire this thing up?

I had the same problem, but I have the powercord. It took about an hour for it to find the satellites under the new system. This was about a year ago. It worked ever since. Although compared to the newer units, the 45 is a dog as far as locking in.

Thanks guys. I called Garmin and for $99.00 they will fix it, again. This happened before and they upgraded my unit from a 45 to an XL. I think I'll put the $99.00 towards a newer, 12 channel model with mapping capability.
