View Full Version : Decent low-budget medium-heavy spinning reel with spool clicker?

I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive spinning reel that is about a 50-60 size (about 200yds of regular 15# line) that makes some sort of decently audible clicking sound when line is taken out against the drag.

I do a lot of trolling, and don't want to have to be constantly "babysitting" the rod when trolling. The reel I've been using is perfectly OK otherwise, but silent.

Baitrunner is preferred, because I'll probably be using it for carping, too, but not necessary... I can always dial down the drag to keep the rod from being pulled into the lake when carping.

I'm not looking to spend too much, and would certainly consider old models that are good. Just need to know which models to look for. Will pay a bit more for US or Canadian made if such is available, but it seems that everything made here is rather high end these days, well outside of my budget.

BPS has some reels in the $25-40 range that look good, but I don't know if they make any clicking sound...

I like my rods well enough (like long rods), and don't want to spring for a whole new outfit (which would be baitcasting, with a rod at least 6'6", preferably over 7' and a reel that has a line out alarm, if I did).

If anyone has an old reel or medium casting outfit that works well and fits the bill and they want to unload, feel free to PM me, too. Maybe we can make a deal.

Any info would be much appreciated... :fish:
