I was hoping anyone with information on the best way to fish these lakes particularly South Manistique for pike and walleye would share how with me. Me and some friends are going to be heading up to Curtis,MI area the last weekend in May/first part of June to try our luck at walleye and pike. We are familiar with how to fish for and catch walleye in Lake Erie but didnt know what the "hot" lures/bait was on these two lakes was. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Also is this a good time of year to catch these species up there? Thanks again. Ryan

should be a good time unless its a late spring.....walleyes.....? leeches and slip bobbers work well...slow trolled crawlers or leeches do well..with burnt blue/orange tint to the water plugs in orange, gold or blues do well..pike? sheesh :ptake any lure, your favorite lure or your most useless lure.. cast or troll you'll find them..most u.p. waters have an abundance of pike that hit readily(just not as many legals as a fellow might like),but with a 2 daily limit..you should have no problem..if you don't find all the pike you want there..try frenchmans or the seney refuge ponds, millecoquins or milakoka...(all in the same general vicinity)

On the south lake look for weedbeds in 8-14ft of water for walleyes. You can troll, drift or anchor right on the edge of the weeds and should catch a few. Slip bobber w/ shiner or leech if your anchored works great. If you're trolling or drifting a crawler harness works or a lindy rig with a shiner....and pike ya theyre everywhere and hit on anything. Try the most Northwest bay for pike that time of year, should be loaded. Try live suckers for the bigger pike. Largemouth bass fishing is great in the spring....

Agree with the above for pike troll anything on breaks, for wallleye work weed edges with slip bobber and leech or crawler. I have fished West Side mostley along weed edges and done very well for both in early season. Bass are on fire then too.
