I fished the hardy dam pond in newaygo twice last year. We stayed at the state park south of big bend park and fished alot near the island north of the bend. I was wondering if there are any good spots farther near up towards brower park. Im looking to target bass and pike mainly but with go for walleye as well. We are planing to fish around May 10 so any tips about fish the hardy that time of the year will be appreciated! thanks

Actually I find the fishing better up near Brower and beyond. Any point or flat will hold pike in the spring. If you're lucky you'll run into some good smallies.

Jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs always fair well on Hardy.

I'm surprised to hear mostly about bass and pike at hardy dam pond.

Why isn't a body of water that large full of walleyes?

Is it shallow?

Oh yeah, there's walleye in there for sure.

Shallow? Define shallow. I know one spot where your bow can be in 4' of water and the transom haning over nearly 100' of water. The main lake is fairly deep with steep drop offs. The river upstream is also fairly deep in the main channel but has nice flats on the inside bends.
