Someone please tell me that there is some sort of fish in the Elk Rapids dam. I was wondering if anyone has been catching steelhead or suckers out of there or in the dam-bypass. Any info on ER or local places will be greatly apprieciated

I'd be interested also, but should these be in cold water or Northwest Rivers???

Used to catch some real nice smallies out of there in the spring/early summer. Haven't been up there in a long time though.

Your other thread on this got closed because that moderator believed that the fishery at the dam is very small...well, it is...but it's also very tough fishing there, sio I don't think anyone's too worried about the dam area being slammed by people. It's also closely watched by the area CO's.

It's early there yet, but try later on in late April and early May, it should be fairly productive then if you know what you're doing and are adequately prepared with very strong, yet invisible, line and leaders.
