Guys I just wanted to let you all know of a product that is made right here in Michigan. The guy who manufactores this tool is one heck of a nice guy. He was my fabrication guy before my plant decided to close. He's now trying to spur michigan economy by laying it all on the line.
He definately believes in his product, it's worth taking a look at if you are into fishing at deep depths.
What it does is allow you to locate the fish, and go a troll a little further. You drop the anchor in freefall simply by pulling back on the handle. You can then slowly drift back over the spot, and lock the spindle in place by turning it a crank forward. Mission accomplished your spot on, on top of the fish.
It really is a very well made product. I admire the guy for having the balls to try this when the economy is in the pooper. The amazing thing is all he wants to do is sell enough product to employ a few more people.
Check out his website, www.anchorwizard.com (http://www.anchorwizard.com/)
You may think i'm promoting this product, but I have nothing at all to do with it. I just think it's a very good product and truly hope it kicks off so a few more of us sportsmen in Michigan can have a job.
Thanks for taking a look.

My grand father always rigged his boats up that way. It's nice until the handle slips and that thing zings around 200MPH and smacks you in the knuckles.
I've always heard it called the lazy man anchor.

Actually all you have to do to release the spool is to pull the handle back a quarter turn. The Spool then free falls to the bottom of the lake. The handle does not turn while it is falling. You can also control the speed at which the anchor goes down not backing the handle off as much. Basically you can take it down as slow or fast as you want too.
I hope he posts a video soon because it's a really cool anchoring system.

I'm not really sure what he charges for the complete system. I believe it's around $290 mounted on your boat. You would have to give him a call to verify the price.
I have nothing to do with the product, just trying to help a buddy out. He's the guy who invented the system. I think it's a pretty darn solid system. He'll stand behind it 100%. I don't doubt if it broke 5 years down the road he would drive to your house and fix it for you. He's just that kind of guy. Truly a nice guy with a pretty good idea.
:fish:Called Bruce about the anchor told me the price for the anchor was 65.00 dallors. an weighs 12 pounds.

I don't think anyone cares about the cost of the anchor, the question about price has to do with the control unit.
Thanks DFA, looks like a great design from a capable fabricator. Wouldn't expect the unit to be cheap. I drive through Remus fairly often, looks like a short drive up M66 to Evart is in order.....

I spent some time with Bruce on the water yesterday. He was showing me how the anchor wizard worked, and also even had his young nephew turning the crank (it was that easy!)

The anchor wizard is now available in a deep water spool as well as a smaller shallow water spool. You can have the spool on the bow of the boat, back by the motor, or basically anyplace you desire. He is even making a small version for the smaller 12-14 foot boats! Bruce is a great guy and now is the perfect time (while most everyone is hunting instead of fishing) to get one for your boat!
