The season for spearing sucker opens April 1st? Is there any particular area that it starts/doesn't start?

I planned on going this weekend, but that looks like a no. The Bean Creek behind my house is still pretty muddy too.

I checked the creek behind my house last night at about 11 oclock and i saw 1 sucker. I fished on the grand right at the mouth of a creek and we caught 9 between two of us. They are staging right now, ready to run.
