I have been catching them all over the irish hills for over a week. Caught a 2 man limit in about an hour yesterday and continued to catch and release for fun after that. 3-4 feet of water all over the irish hills area

my brother and i took his lund out last weekend and landed a couple crappie and gills. water temp at 40 deg. can only get better from here on out.
Yup, ide says its worth your while, been getting them on a small lake in Lenawee county as well. They have been keeping me busy enough to not want to go down to Maumee and combat fish. 20-30 feet off shore 8 feet down on waxies.

Where should I be looking as far as spawning areas in a lake that has no brush, just weed beds, a couple shallow bays, one with pretty much a sandy bottom and one with a dark, low weed bottom? I have never found them in this lake at spawn time. Obviously looking in the wrong places at the wrong times? I know they are in there, just gotta find them

the spawn is weeks away. the crappies are coming shallow to feed. look for dark bottoms bays, they warm faster. i like weed edge.if the lake is clear you might be able to see them. in vineyard lake, i sight fishh for them in the weeds.they should be in 8 to 10 feet of water or less. i use jigs and minnows.good luck. i plan on going to barton pond in ann arbor soon.

Yes, I hit my hotspot on Sunday. I caught about a dozen small crappies (up to 12.5"). The big ones aren't in yet, but I'm heading back this weekend.
Also caught about a dozen bass and some sunfish/blugill on minnows. Hopefully the big ones come in soon!

ok, talked me into it, plus I have waxies left over from ice fishing. Going to give it a shot with some tear drops in one hole I've heard about over the years...I'll report back with the results

Catch and release 9 inchers my aren't we picky?
I really wasn't asking were the 12 inchers came from...just didn't think they got much bigger than that here in Michigan.
I wouldn't tell me either...I don't share my holes :)

Oh they do but what I have found is that you only catch them for a week maybe two then its over.Time it rite and Bellville will produce some slabs.
