Ice Out Crappies?

Anyone have experience finding Crappie once hardwater disappears? Does it seem to be related to when the ice is gone, water temp or date to see them move into the canals? Ice is gone here in Oakland County and I'm thinking about getting out soon. Is it too early? :fish:

Was out this Sunday and fished two canals on the lake and didn't catch a single fish - took a few hits though. My guess is that the fishing should start turning on in the next week or two if the water warms up a bit.

I'm thinking the lakes that have an shallower average depth may warm up sooner. I could be wrong though. Was the lake you were on one of the deeper or shallower lakes...
I could probably guess a couple you might have been on.
I'm probably going to try somewhere THursday...loks like it will be a nice day either way. If they arent around I'll go back next week:D

I was in a deeper lake that is spring fed and part of the Huron river chain. Water was still on the very cold side. Good thought on the shallower lake;) I may give a shallower lake a try next weekend too.
