Page came out good, completely readable!
Very Nice job by the PWOG to post the tour flyer that I spent soo much time designing, now if we can just get participation were all set!
Note: Winners will also receive a Spring Fling T shirt, screen printed by Andersons in Croton, Very Nice guy if you ever need some screen printing done, he has all the equipment to design your logo and put it on a shirt!
He will have the machines set up and ready if anyone who DOESN'T win if they would like a shirt, I think he said $10 each, may be higher but either way I think its a deal!
Looking for Door Prizes currently, and I will post if I come up with anything!
I'm sure there will be questions about the format, ask away!
For any who want to sign up early Email me @ the Addy on the flyer and I will put you on the list!
The tournament PERMIT is for 25 boats, so 1st come 1st served, tho all are welcome and I'm working on a deal with Croton TWP just in case we have more than 25 boat's show, Cant turn anyone away!
Make sure you have a suitable measuring device, does not have to be a golden rule board, will need a minimum of 1/4" marks!

Oh I'm sure there will be a ringer or 2 in the lineup, not that I'm 1 of them:lol:
I only really got to know croton last year, but last spring was phenomenal!
Particularly MAY, a few smallies were bedding, but most were staging up getting ready, it was absolutely CRAZY!:dizzy:
That is part of my reasoning for picking Croton, the other is even if some of the guys do find largemouth, it wont matter, sense its all based on length!
And if the open draw for back seat doesn't excite you, well no matter then cause your prolly a boater anyway lol.
Just a pre season chance to fish with someone new, possibly win some cash as TOP BOAT? Thad be KEWL!
Stakes are low enough so that its more about fishig than competition anyway, but winning is always SWEET!

I put together a Waiver and Release form, All participants MUST sign it when they register!
Also Launch Draw will be decided at the launch, if theres over 15 boats it will be a draw! under 15 boats will be a Shotgun start!
I am aware the Causeway bridge is a NO WAKE ZONE, as far as any others I dunno?
Please be courteous when passing under the bridge and while maneuvering around others using the waterway!
FYI the TOP BOAT is the logical replacement for the BIG fish side pot!
As this is a PAPER tournament weights will be solely based on length, measuring to the nearest 1/8th inch!
There for make sure you have a suitable measuring device, in the last 2 seasons I have caught many fish over 23 inches at CROTON and my GOLDEN RULE board is ONLY 22 1/4 long!
Prepare accordingly!
Also the Decimal Conversion table maxes out at 25 7/8 inches! if you get a fish longer than that, oh well TOO BAD you lucky dog! he he he

If Carl is measuring smallmouths over 23 inches I want him to measure my fish. Those fish would all have to be over 6 pounds. I've caught a lot of smallmouths, but haven't caught one over 5 and 1/2 pounds yet. Maybe ther needs to be a rule and demonstration for the proper way to legally measure a fish. Or we need all to get the same ruler Carl has been using.

This is the reason for the BACKSEATER DRAW!
You are fishing against the other angler in the boat, and you must verify/witness the measurement of every fish the other angler catches, by writing it down and initialing it on the weigh sheet and vice-versa!
Now why would I give anything more than what it measures??? Considering that im fishing against the other angler! NO WAY!
Now your also fishing as a team with the other angler in the boat, but thats small change, only $5 per boat goes into it ---->TOP BOAT pays only 1 place!
Now maybe you understand the reasoning behind the format!
If not keep asking, I'll try to make it as clear as i can!

Maybe we should reconsider and hand out a paper certificate for the winner and not have any money involved? Winners just get the respect of the others. Then they also could fish with their own partners. Take as many pictures as possible.
basskiller46
03-24-2009, 07:17 AM
I just think that when there is money involved especially now a days there should be some kind of proof other than the person in the boat. It doesnt take
much to say you write this down and we can split the money. Besides most people in this world have camara phones.
If it was a club tournament you could trust people because you know them an most likely they are fishing for the fun of it. But it is an
open tournament(people you dont know) and money up for grabs with no real proof.

The entire idea was to have a Tournament, with paper weights, with a co-angler thats Not your partner in order to keep us honest, if that angler and co-angler decided that cheating to win the TOP BOAT = $5 per boat was more important than the 65% of the entry fee's it pays to win? well that would just prove that they have no basic intelligence!
For instance, 10 boats means only $50 in the top boat pot, entry fee's paid by the 2 teams is $70, why would anyone spend $70 to win $50????
Cant assume anyone would cheat, cant automatically decide that, but if they do and they get caught, thats it, Banned Permanently!
Id have to believe that the Bad Reputation that would follow those 2 people like a bad odor would not be desirable!
Not to mention that if the 2 non team members in the boat wanted to cheat, then they are also cheating on their ACTUAL partners who likely paid 1/2 of the entry fee's, boy wouldn't that go over well!
I personally have to believe Bass Anglers in general are honest people, I have not met any that I believe would cheat!
And theres no way I'm going to sift thru 200 pictures to decide who had the most weight, what a nightmare that would be!!

So your figuring my hand is only like what? 2" wide then!?? come on now, do the math dude, measure your own hand with fingers spread, see what you come up with! As I said befor, my hand is 3 1/2" wide, with fingers together, there easily 1/2" between each finger in that pic = 5 inches!
Then look again, and tell me that fish does not measure 5 x's the width my hand!
Im a construction bum, I have used tape measures my whole life, I can look at a fish or w.e. and guess it rite to the inch, most construction guys can do it, can you? I doubt it, and yet you think you can tell how long that fish is???

If your Ok with the format come on over and Join us!
If you are thinking some one may cheat then stay home, and if you thats thinking that way then stay home!
This is supposed to be a Pre season FUN event, No cheating is necessary, stake are small!
Back seater draw is the Keep Us Honest method, if that don't work then this whole format is not going to work!
I for 1 am not willing to give it up because theres a chance someone may try to cheat!
Though I don't see how that can happen, with paper weights written down by the other guy, who is NOT likely to give anymore than it measures because he and his partner are competing against you!
I see it being a fun day on the water, chasing my personal favorite fish to catch the SMALLIE!
I have put in a lot of effort to this point to try and make this happen, If a cheater can ruin it then I wasted my time!
I don't want to be sitting for hours after the tournament sifting thru 200 fish pictures when the measurements are rite there on paper! Can you imagine 20 boats with 10 pic's each to determine the weight, OMG would be a book keeping nightmare!
If some of the guys want to hold a BIG fish side pot, then ya Take pic's and prove it! Otherwise the HONOR method is all we have to go with!

I really don't think cheating is gonna be a problem.:) The system you've devised seems pretty smart to me and I think it'll work just fine. Most here are good intentioned folks(never mind our quarrels over stupid ****!)!! lol!
If by some crazy chance a cheater shows, why should all the good people work around him so much. If that db is so determined and good and being a swindling weasel, I say f 'em...let 'em try. Can't wait to see him get caught. And if the db manages to win and walks away w/ a cowards' purse, let him spend it on booze and enjoy it...I'm sure sooner or later karma will knock & he'll get caught & get his.

However the weights will be somewhat exagerated:yikes: but that will alow someone to say they had a HUGE BAG!

FYI all, I went to Croton and signed up for the (assembly) permit, no problem getting it, but my JAW about hit the floor when they said $50 rather than the $25 I had heard it was:yikes:
I had already intended on having the entry fee's absorb the permit cost, This could greatly effect the payout's depending on participation, plus I am already shuckin out the cash for the shirts to be given to the winners!
But theres NO LIMIT on particiation, I think the site accomidates up to 50 boats properly parked, so if turnout is good, then the $50 permit fee wont even be noticed!

is there any way this tournament can be on saturday or something?? I was really looking forward to this tournament. I understand that maybe the turnout rate may not be as good as you wanted but I think being that this is the first annual it is a good idea just to go with the few boats you have and let it be. If the tourney is fun, next year you will see a better turnout guaranteed. I would really like to see this thing happen...whats the odds of pulling it off on saturday??
