Just wondering how the ice is holding up on Fletchers, especially the shore ice. Anyone do any good Saturday? Hoping to get one more trip towards the end the week.

Thanks! :D

Shore Ice is BAD!!! bring your wadders!!! Rest of the lake is 15+ I had the quads out on Sat but it was not fun getting off at night! Deeper than you think at the launch:D:D:D I sent Capt Heavy a PM get with him....M

It's fading fast. I went out today at 10:30, when I came off at 3:00 the shore ice had changed significantly. I kept a dozen today and a limit yesterday. I also landed a 20 inch pike on 2lb test. He hit a teardrop with a waxworm. I was after panfish, honest.

Be careful out there. At this point you might want to get the boat tuned up and wait a few weeks.

I was out there yesterday from 8am-noon. Didn't see much of a change in the shore ice when I came off at Jack's Landing, but it was just starting to get sunny and warm up a bit when I left. Kept 18 gills, no crappie, 3 small perch. Probably caught close to 120 gills between my buddy and I. Best baits for me we a Marmoska (sp?) jig with small junk of worm. Waxie's were doing ok, but they were alot more aggressive with a chunk of leaf worm! No real hogs, 6 that pushed 9", rest were 7-8" for the keepers. I was straight out about 300yards from Jacks in 6fow. From what I was told by another gentleman at the launch, was that I needed to be further west if I wanted to get into some crappie. Thankfully there was a board connecting the shore to the ice at Jacks. If anyone else came out of there later in the day or even this morning, I'd appreciate an update since I'm thinking of heading out one last time this afternoon! Thanks...

well got back from the floodwaters after a decent weekend of fishing... the fishing had slown down from the previous weekend for me anyways we still kept quite a few crappie but not near the numbers that we had been catching.. we didnt have any problems getting on to the ice off of our property but due to the saw dust that we have laid down the ice is holding pretty good with all the insulation...we left our quads on the ice over night to prevent from breaking up the shore ice as much as possible. The springs are starting to show and the river is starting to open more and more now so it wont be much longer before its all gone. in my opinion if there is ice this weekend it probably wont be very safe but....i'll be on it if i can.. good luck to all who get out there...Mike

Hi,
Went out of Jacks yesterday afternoon around 4. Shore ice is junk and someone removed the plank that was there on Sunday and moved it out to the small crack where it wasn't even needed! UGH! Anyways, after using the shanty to jump on, then jump from that onto the ice, we made our way out to the "crack"....pounded some decent gills right away then had a flurry of action with bass! My pal and I ended up with about 20 keepers and about twice that amount of throw backs....got back to the truck just before dark and met a few guys coming off who had buckets full of crappie!!! I know where they were fishing!!Biggest was 14.5"....I haven't bumped a crappie in two days out there, but then found out why....I wasn't using minnows!! Have to leave today for Martinsville Virginia, going to the NASCAR race...hopefully when I get back next Tuesday, I'll be able to somehow get onto the ice...may have to take waders or a canoe, but I'm going to get into them!!! Be careful everyone as it's getting tricky to get onto the ice!

You're crazier than heck if you venture out on that ice again after this wind and rain. ;) Put that ice fishing stuff away and get the boat ready! They're catching steelhead and walleye in the bay right now. With the smelt that the guys are catching, there should be some browns in there too.
You should have explained to fishjonjr, that up here, you need the blessing of the local witch doctor to catch fish like that. Don't forget to see him when we have the Revenge of Nessy Tourney this summer! :D
