Just made first trip of the season, just south of the Black River. Lost one near the boat. Saw 3 other boats, and did see one walleye netted. Water was very cold (35'F), and it was hard to keep vertical with the south wind there today. Just need some warmer days, but it has started!!

Was the water clean or dirty, thanks?

It wasn't too bad. A little mixed in pods of dirty, then clean. As the Black goes, for this time of year, not too bad. (3 feet visibility I would say). The fish I had on, bit very light (same with the guy in the other boat). The third boat said they had two bites. Only fished about 1.5 hrs.

Same here, launched at 9 am and it was as cold as when my wife is mad at me.
MarbleEyeMack pulled the lone fish in our boat, a nice 18" male. Made several passes. Water was dirty south of the black, but it always is, went over to the Canadian side water temp over there was 33 deg. Sun came out and in 24 FOW it was 36deg. Couple more weeks boys. Just felt nice to get out and have the girl run.
If you do go out just be careful, there is still ice going down the river, the chunks are smaller and harder to see but will trash a prop just the same.
