Just wondering if anyone else had problems with this??
I wanted to test fire my guillotines a few times to see what they would do so I put one together as my designated "practice head" and shot it into a plastic bag filled with shredded paper. As I suspected it stopped the head nicely but when I retreived it one blade was broken off at the ferrule.
I thought..."maybe just a bad blade" so i replaced it and shot a 2 more times without problems. The third time 2 blades broke off....also the blades didn't cut through the plastic tubing, which worries me a bit
Is a plastic bag/shredded paper the wrong thing to be shooting?? Are the tubes not being cut b/c the paper forgives more than muscle/bone would??
Thanks for any input you can give!!!

One of the reasons I don't stock them is that same reason, you cannot practice with them. What does everyone tell you practice with you heads before going out. Well the mfg says these heads don't need it due to the true flight. The idea is great just the fact that you can't be sure unless you shoot it. I would shoot what you use for deer as long as you can hit that small target that a turkey has.:coolgleam
I have broken many blades as well with the Guillotines also which is one of the reasons I won't shoot them anymore. If you contact Arrowdynamic Solutions Matt should take care of you...probably will send you some replacement blades too. He does have the new Diamond Edition Guillotine that the blades will not bend on...may want to check that one out. Personally I would recommend the Magnus Bullhead....essentially the same idea but a much stonger design than the original Guillotine, and the guys at Magnus will take care of ANY problem you may have with them, no questions asked.

I have had the same problem in the past. Its also why i dont shoot them. They are not as accurate as advertised and do break very easily. I switched to the turkey tearror broadheads and have been very happy with them since. And if you do break one you can easily get replacement heads.

Hey buddy...you need to hang a sheet or pillow sheet with a cheap pillow up on a clothesline and shoot into that.
You should be able to get 5-7shots into a pillow before any blades break.
The hanging pillow will absorb all the impact from the arrow while giving under the force...so it absorbs all the force gradually saving the blades.
The straws won't cut through on those target mediums.
Also, with the blade sheaths there are those little foam inserts to hold them in place. Make sure those are all on the same side. If you're looking down the arrow shaft from the tail end the foam inserts should be on the left side of the blade. Good luck Austin!!

Thanks for all the feedback guys!! I think I'll definitely be carrying a back-up expandable broadhead and will probably get in contact with the company to see about upgrading or getting some more blades.
Doc, thanks for the idea I'll double check the little adhesive strips and build a pillow case stopper.

I have taken an old politcal sign and used the metal frame as a base to hold an old white mesh corn bag then shot into that. The arrow went through and the blades are fine. The metal frame from these politacal (yard) signs worked out pretty good. You could probably slip over a pillow case (without the pillow) and have the same result. It is thin enough to let the arrow go through which in my opinion is a little easier on the blades but tough enough to stop the arrow with about two or three yards past the target. I only shot into the bag once though so i am not sure after a couple of times. I missed a turkey last year with them and the blades were busted up because of some tree limbs that it hit.
