View Full Version : Which Navionics chip?
I bought a Humminbird 755C and the Hot Maps Premium chip thinking it would cover Drummond Island and it doesn't. What chip do I need for coverage of Drummond???

You know its been a long time since I've been selling GPS, so my info might not be 100% accurate anymore. Check out the Lakemaster chip made by Lowrance. It does a good job for Michigan, and I believe covers Drummond. Although its made by Lowrance, I believe they are still compatible with Hummingbird. Like I said, look into it cause I might not be correct. Not to mention they are only 99.99 instead of 150 or whatever Navionics charges anymore.
I checked them out, better price great detail but they aren't compatable with a Humminbird, Damn it.

Just FYI: There is data for Drummond Island on the Navionics HotMaps chart. It also covers the US waters of Lake Huron. $99 for the N4 North or the E4 East chart (same data for Michigan on both). Not sure who gave you that info, but there is data for Drummond Island on the HotMaps charts.
Our North and East chart, be they the HotMaps 2008 for just $99 (for 6+ states and Great Lakes near shore data) or the new 2009 for $149 (same states) have more data, better data and more up to date data than anyone in the business.
Also Navionics has 63 1' increment HD Survey Lakes and 2365 total lakes in just Michigan the 2009 product. Our competition has just 49. We have the largest and most up to date survey fleet in the US and Canada.
I would be more than happy to show and compare the Navionics product to anyone that stops by the Grand Rapids Sports Show this weekend.
We're right across from Shimano in booth 1864.

I have the 08 HotMaps East chip and the detail for north Drummond terrible. My home lake of 70 acres here in northern Indiana has better detail than the info on Drummond. Am I doing something wrong!!!! Is there another Nav. chip with better detail of the area?

What lake on Drummond? Some are DNR data and some will just be the outline. It depends on the size, popularity and data that is avialable. We have not surveyed any lakes on Drummond, so we are left to the option of using data we can secure on the open market. If there are better maps available for this lake, let me know and we'll see what we can do to add it to the chart.
I can check the 09 chart for you today and see if the info has been upgraded. You can e-mail me at lcarr at navionics dot com with the info and I'll get working on it.

Larry,
I am looking for a chip that covers Ontario lakes, specifically Lake Windermere, and the surrounding lakes. What do you suggest?

KZ,
We have a chart specifically for Canada but I do not find Lake Windermere on it. You can check the lake list at
http://www.navionics.com/HMPremium09LakeList.asp?RegionID=5
We are constantly adding lakes in Canada and in fact added over 2000 in BC for 2009. If you have a particular lakes you would like us to add, you can request it as well at:
http://www.navionics.com/FavoriteLakes.asp
If I can help with any other questions, let me know.

Hey Larry, what's the best chip for Michigan in an HDS5? The base model without the Lake Insight. Customer thinking about pulling the trigger on either an HDS5 or 7. I think I have him priced to buy the unit... but I'll need a chip too. He fishes mostly the bigger waters... Muskegon, White, Hardy, Croton, etc...
