I posted this as a reply to another thread, but it deserves it's own thread. Keep in mind the code works on anything SportsAuthority carries.

I just found out that SportsAuthority online purchases can use a 25% code! They have the FL8 Pro Pack for for $349, after code is $268.45. They also have the FL18 Pro Pack for $449, after code is $342.96.

The code is 25OFF and it expires on Monday 12/08/02. Basically you add the item to your shopping cart, check out, sign in, confirm your address and shipping options (free ground til monday), then add the promotional code under the "Gift Certificates & Promotion/Discount Codes" box. It should then take 25% off.

As if it can't get any better. If you purchase using your MSN Wallet you get an extra 20% reward dollars back in Feb. 2003 good for any of the listed store. Here is the info (http://eshop.msn.com/softcontent/softcontent.aspx?scmId=907) on how the reward dollars work. Basically if you count your reward dollars it turns your $449 FL18 Pro Pack into a final cost of $273. Not too shabby--keep in mind your out of pocket is still $342.96, but you will get $68.59 in store credit from a participating retailer.

If you don't already know what an MSN Wallet is, it is a way to check out faster from a participating online store. It is a secure transaction ID that encodes your credit info, address, etc. so when you shop from a new store you don't need to setup a new account. It has it's benefits. I have been using one for a couple years.

If anybody is having trouble understanding any of this please let me know and I will try to explain it better.

I am a member of a "code trading" forum too. One of my other hobbies is spending money.

Thanks Banditto, just saved $115. Ended up with the FL-18 model. Also www.reedssports.com has the same unit for $419 with free shipping. I got it for $357 (saved $62 over reeds price). Going to use it on my boat this summer also along with my Garmin 240.

I talked my wife into letting me get the dual beam FL18. I saved $117 on the purchase, plus I will get $63 back in Feb. 2003.

FatWallet.com (http://www.fatwallet.com/)

GotApex.com (http://forums.anandtech.com/categories.cfm?catid=40)

Anandtech Hot Deals (http://forums.anandtech.com/categories.cfm?catid=40)

FatWallet is about the best with very little restrictions. GotApex is run by some down to earth people, and the deals page is updated everyday. Anandtech occasionally will have something that the others don't have.

I have saved literally thousands of dollars over the past 5 years or so (maybe longer...) Put it this way, at the end of the year Discover card gives you an annual report with your cashback. 2001 I had $21,000 spent on that card alone--much of which is computer replacement parts for other people. I get tons of free stuff, demo stuff, merchandise, etc. The coupon lookup on GotApex deals page near the right side is handy.

How do the zercom flashers mentioned above compare to the FL8 vexilar flashers? There is quite a large price difference - $179 Vs. $268. just wondering if there are any major differences as far a performence between the two. Anyone have experience with them? thanks

A lot of people complain that Zercom picks up echo's from other fish finders. Vexilar doesn't seem to have that problem. Plus Zercom was bought out by Hummingbird so they are no longer made... good luck on repairs in the future.

Bump for final day of the sale. You will never see prices like this again. I got my confirmation for my MSN Wallet reward already for $70. So the FL18 Pro Pack will end up costing me under $290.

Deal is Over.

Mine is waiting at my door--can't wait to get home and check it out.

I know I pointed this out before, but using MSN Wallet I am gonna get $96 back in Feb. 2003. Can't wait for that too... So my total is gonna be $260 for a FL18 Pro Pack. Not too shabby.
