Well because my girl is a bad@$$ she let me go ice fishing for the weekend on valentines day. Before i get bashed we are going to celebrate it in florida!!! Anyways, we made our way out to the little town of Baraga, MI. We got out to the ice and soon learned there was a pike fishing tournament going on, we missed the signup and stuff but we were fine with that, whatever right. That is when we started smaking fish on the tip-ups one after the other pretty steady all day long. What a great time, we kept 8 or 9 fish none under 28inches, and let a bunch go. The three honarable mentioned fish where my buddy matt's 36in, 11lber. Andy's 40in, 22lber. And my 43in, 21lber. My buddy James also caught a 38in, 15lber a couple weeks before. Well curiousity got the best of me and we drove by the tourney anyways where i asked a guy what the big fish was...18lbs!!! Second was 15. So we took the two big twin pikes into the bar and it was nothing but applause and pictures. Then a taxidermist and local fishing guide came up to me and was amazed we stomped his fish. After his tried to fish the location out of me he offered to mount all three fish for 7 dollars an inch, instead of 10...We couldnt resist...now the 2 week wait begins til i get that big beautiful thing back. Here are some pics guys!!!

Heres the big boy!!!

Congrats on the fish guys. It is a small world on Michigan Sportsman. The town you were fishin in was chassell, and the tournement was the Green Light Bars tourney. I just moved from chassell last may and just so happened to be up there the weekend you guys were fishin.(I was snowmobiling) I'm actually friends with the guy that one the tourney. When visiting some friends on sunday i heard all about how these out of towners came into the bar with these huge fish. If you ever make it into the bait shop where you gettin the fish mounted, check out my master angler burbot(lawyer) on the wall. I've seen numerous fish like the dandy that you caught, caught over the years. Once again congrats on the awesome day of fishin.

Otter Lake??? Used to vacation for a week in a cabin on Otter. I know how good the pike fishing can be. Wife took a 39incher on a sucker near the mouth of the river where it comes in.

If it wasent Otter you should give it a try. Its just awesome. Lots of walleye too. Just a few miles north of Baraga. Beautiful pike. They sure were some of the fattest pike I have ever seen. Must be eating good. I never leave home without my sidearm too. What ya carry most. I am a relvolver guy but collect Sig's. Hence my screen name. Just picked this guy up the other day. 7 shots of .357 and only 21oz's

Perhaps you should keep your comments to yourself. Who are you to tell someone else where they should and shouldn't legally carry their firearm? Perhaps you didn't hear about the recent church shooting? Who would think to carry a gun to church with your family!

Like the saying goes "I would rather have one and not need it than need one and not have it" If you dont want to carry its just as much your right not to as it is ours too carry. Sorry off topic.

You don't have to point out news articles to me I don't live in a cave. Besides I own an XD-45 and 40. I also have my CWP. But I'm pretty sure (Yah I'm sure,it's illegal to carry and drink) and from the sounds of their mouth there was definetly some alki involved.

I dont drink at all. And I cuss like a sailor:lol: If thats what you were talking about. It's only .02 when carrying. I am sure you knew that. Didnt mean to get a rise out of you. Were all friends here. I thought this was about "where" they were carrying anyway. It just a personal choice where he wants to carry. And I am not going to accuse someone of breaking the law by drinking and carrying unless I have a lot stronger evidence than that video. I am getting ready to hit the Detroit River this morning for some perch. And carrying my gun just in case a sea monster comes after me :yikes: Again sorry if I got under your skin. Hope to see ya on the Detroit River or Lake Erie sometime and we can share some seacret fishing spots.

Whoa there big guy, there was no "alki" involved. I would NEVER drink and carry. I mean there was a tournament going on and a dnr officer there...like i would chance it. back on topic, i will look into fishing that otter lake for sure, and that .357 is sweet. mines an xd 45 compact...i would like a revolver tho for as much as i carry outdoors, altho that xd takes a beating
