My 12 year old son will now be able to use our crossbow in MI. He's killed four deer in Ohio with a crossbow in the past 3 seasons. I'd guess that it will be 2010 or 2011 and he'll be ready to move on to a compound bow.
My 10 year old daughter got squeezed by the new rules excluding 10 & 11 year olds. She'll turn 11 in September so this year she'll again be limited to just Ohio. She took her first deer in Ohio in January of this year with a crossbow.

i made this a public pole to try and eliminate some of the ---lets just say not so honest voters:yikes: and you may vote for more than one option
As with all polls, this one does not have the perfect responses for me. I simply picked the ones that most closeley matched my situation.

If they were legal for me in zone 1 and 2, I'd be buying one. But unfortunately not the case.

Also, I'm not sure I understand the poll fully. Why is youth and Zone 1&2 part of the poll?

I probably won't hunt with a crossbow, but I do want to invite Thunderhead over to shoot a few practice rounds with one.

because they to can hunt with a crossbow per rules (youth to me is 13-17 after that you're an adult like it or not). i didn't sit down and write a list of options. i probably should have seeing as how i could of had 20. i just felt that this would touch the majority on this forum. just like esox said as in all polls not everything fits for everyone. sorry, i didn't feel like trying to split the atom today, maybe on the next poll.
I'm not going to buy one as I already own two, but I will certainly hunt with one of them and I am over 60...

well the poll has been open for 12 hours. at this time period, the poll has a rate of 2 more hunters per hour will join the rank and file of archery hunters. now, mathematically that means if we add 2 new hunters every single hour of every single day it will take 4 years to regain our 70,000 hunters that we have lost in the last decade. so for all you worry warts out their about the flood gates opening and overharvest i think you can put your worries to rest.
i don't know what the stats are but i think that the first 12-24 hours of a poll would show a pretty good projection of whats to become. jmo. if there are any of you out there that have degrees in this polling subject, please come forward an elude to the facts of such.

I might buy one this year but more likely next year and I am over 60.
I have been having a little trouble pulling my compound but still can yet but this is diffently going to be a good thing for me.

Personally I am very excited about being able to use a cross bow. I have not bow hunted in years because of a shoulder injury. It was not bad enough to get a permit under the old rules but I wasn't able to practice or shoot more than 4-5 arrows. Then I would be lame for a few days. I am going to get a cross bow this summer and get practicing. Thanks to those who pushed for this. l appreciate the efforts.

This poll is either misunderstood OR purposely messed with. One person marked every box and even Terry Williams voted (gun hunters). Are you asking each person that reads the poll what they will do OR are you asking what people "think" other hunters will do? Look at the votes and you'll see what I mean. Thanks.

Unless the hunter in disabled or elderly, Crossguns will not be found on my property!

I have hunted with a bow for over 30 years.I killed a deer last year with my bow. For the next 3 seasons,I will hunt with my crossbow. I find it to be a new challenge for me. I doubt that I will impact any bowhunter who wishes to hunt with a bow. I still support FULL INCLUSION. Why I should be allowed to use a crossbow because I am 52,but my neighbor, who is 44 can't. When this is all said and done, crossbows will be just ANOTHER tool to harvest game.Take a look at other states where the crossbows have been used.Point to ANY problem that they created. You can't.

I posted a remark Friday afternoon regerding the new law allowing the use of crossbows in zone 3. My statement was indeed a knee jerk reaction when I called the bows a "crossgun". I in no way meant any harm or direspect to any of you that enjoy the use of the crossbow. I still have mixed emotions regarding their use but it is not my position to judge those that do. Please eccept my apology and good hunting.:)

I plan on buying a crossbow but I'm not sure yet what kind. Have to do some serious research and talk to some hunters that already use one. I just turned 50 and have diabetes and just can't seem to stay warm here in the U.P. during gun season anymore. I'm really looking forward to spending a full day in the woods hunting again.

There's a thread in here started by an MS member named Lew. Look for it and read through.

I see those of us in zone 1 and 2 get the shaft again. I live just 2 miles north of m20 and there are deer everywhere but I cant hunt in the early doe season or I cant use a crossbow. Doesnt seem fair to me. Quit bow hunting a couple of years ago because it bothers my shoulder to practice and I dont beleive you should be hunting if you dont practice regulary. So I will have to wait another 13 years untill I am 50.:mad::mad::mad:
I have killed a couple deer during the gun season with my crossbow, so it's not new to me, but I am really looking forward to hunting small game with it.

When I have the cash available I will buy one. I think it's a great move to bringing new people into the sport. I look forward to it.

This fall I'm going to switch from a verticle bowhunter to a horizontal bowhunter. I like the looks and feel of the Parker Buck-Buster 175. I hope to have my crossbow in the next couple of months. :D
