OK so I'm not that great of a walleye angler and I could use a leg up from some one who knows when they make there runs in the spring. I want to try fishing some eyes at night on the break walls but I don't really know when a good time of year is to go for them, I think they start getting good in early April but I don't want to miss any action so could some one give me a tip on a good time to start going for them  . Any tips, hints, or opinions would be great cause I'm kinda lost when it comes to fishing for eyes (FEEL FREE TO SHOOT ME A PM)

O and I'm going to be hitting the Muskegon BREAK WALLS if that makes a big deal on timing the spring run

As soon as most of the floating ice is done flowing between the breakwalls. Trollers do well along the shorelines.......

If you look at the thread in the river MO river section you'll see that a lot of them are already up the river or just getting ready to.

Crankbaits work at times as does crawlers.

Also try casting Clown colored HJ Rapalas in the channel around the sub and off the North side from the SP.

correct me if Im wrong, but wont it be illegal to fish for eyes march 15-april 25 from the breakwall. I know the pier is open all year long, but isnt the breakwall considered inland?

Yes after March 15th you can't fish inside. There's guys fishing the walls right now......in between ice floes.....

After March 15th you can only fish out past a line drawn across the channel from shore to shore....out past that line you're good to go....

You say tomatoe I say tomoto  I like to call the peirs break walls and the one on the north side (the one that I fish) is not much of a peir in the sence that you can't walk on huge bolders very easly so I just like to call them break walls :coolgleam I only cast into lake Michigan so I'm sure thats leagal.

Once the river temps climb above 45 degrees the walleye will spawn and then quickly drop back to the river mouths and piers along west MI. Late April into early May generally is the best time to go try.;)

During the closed season you can legally fish the channels and breakwalls outside an imaginary line drawn from beach to beach at the water line.

That's what I've always heard. As long as you're out from that line drawn from the shore of Lake Michigan, it doesn't matter what side of the pier or breakwall you fish off.
