View Full Version : Ginos Report
Hit Genos after work for a couple of hours. Started in closer, around 7 fow. Nothin' but dinks and one 8 incher. Moved out a ways to about 9.5 fow and had fish on the screen all day, but they were super tight to the bottom and it was tough to get them to bite. I finally started hooking my minnow in the back and they liked that. The last half hour of light was pretty busy, and I managed 5 legitimate keepers. 2 were 12, 1 was 10, and 2 9 inchers. I missed a couple other really nice fish. I wish I would have started out in that spot instead of where I did, but it was still fun.
No pics as I let em go. I figured 5 fish wasn't worth making a mess in the house when I got home. Probably be back out Sunday if the rain doesn't totally screw things up. Let's hope anyway! It was a really beautiful night on the ice though, especially right when the sun went down. Wish I had brought the camera.

thanks for the report:D,headed out fri.:),how thick was the ice at 9.5 ft.??
I didn't measure it, but it was still very thick. It's not that far out there to get to 9.5 fow. It was still a long way out passed where I was to get to the big huge ice jam/crack you can see way out there.
Good luck out there,

You did better than us. Fished from 430 till dark no keepers only about a dozen dinks between 3 guys. Please ice melt

I was thinking about heading out of Gino's on friday, but i've never fished there. How far out do you have to go there? Do you park right at the restaraunt or is there a lot somewhere else?

best bet is to park right @ ginos....easier to cross the crack there.
U can go out 100 yards or 1000...ur call. Im furthest out right now... .81 miles..
Only have 9 so far...its a finesse bite today...wish I wouldve got some wigglers.

You still gonna head out there tomorrow? How bad is the crack? I always here people talk about wigglers but I have no clue what they are. I've used spikes, mousies, wax and butter worms, but never seen wigglers. what do they look like?

A wiggler is a mayfly larva I think .

No... Sir, Take a closer look. He's got a decimal point in front of the 81. which would put him about 13/16 if a mile out.

I went there for a few hours and just caught a few dinks. Saw one guy real close pull a pike and he had one nice perch. I swung over to crocker and kept 7, but had a constant flow of dinks. The ones I kept were nothing to write home about, but it's lunch. Hopefully it doesn't rain Sat morn....

Ended up with a dozen...1 10" and the rest 8's...
The biggest one was the 1st fish too.....I hate when that happens...Thought today was the day!
Doh...
I found a new crack today too... Runs from the corner of ginos/becon cove toward huron point...SW to NE.
Glad I got off the ice when the front came through....It was really cranking by the time I got home....

Fished out in front of Gino's on Thursday (3-5) and between my buddy and I all we could manage were 15 "keepers" - some of which were questionable. We saw a couple of giants on the cameras, but they weren't interested in our offerings.
Everyone I talked to on the ice was having the same results - lots of little ones, only few keepers mixed in.
Shouldda been there yesterday :D
