canels around gross ill

:help::help:wondering how the canels look with ice hoping to get out there this weekend after the rain for some shore fishing. last few years the perch have been plentyfull in them right after ice out. just need a little open water.. thanks for any info. :help::help:

The canals around Grosse Ile are still frozen, but you'll have to wait till after fridays 50 degree heat up to test it. As of now, i say go for the ice fishing. wont open up for a week or so

Im not 100% but I dont think u can shore fish the island unless you have private access.Does any one else know if this is correct??

That would be true. The island has very little public access, and even less parking. My Dad lives near one of the places non residents could fish. His winterized boat was broken into. While the thieves only did a few hundred $ damage, the family of raccoons that moved in did + $5000 to the cabin. Not to mention all the litter. Sad to say but residents don't want us there.
