View Full Version : Brandenburg... Ready to Blow Out..

I took yesterday (Tuesday) off of work to check out the ice around Brandenburg. There is a crack opening up not far in front of the pier. As far as I can tell it stretches the entire length south from Lottivie to the north shore. The crack was barely visible early, but by late morning it was a good six inches wide.. The ice we were fishing on was still a good 10 inches in most spots. With the warm weather and wind in the forecast, it looks like we will have a lot more open water soon.
In any case, if it is windy don't cross that crack unless you really want to be on the evening news!

You will probably still be able to make it north a ways, but should be open water 100 yards in front of the white boat house real soon.
As far as the hot spot to the north... rumor has it that it is starting to heat up pretty good right about now. :D It is a heck of a long walk though... My back was sore when I returned yesterday putting in that kind of distance on slick ice with "creepers"...

Well if we are to get out there it better be real soon since warmer weather is on the way the remaining ice is going to deteriorate very quickly.

I was out today (Wednesday) between Lottivue and the Salt. Wind was blowing into shore all day. Lot of ice grinding going on.
I did notice the ice that was 10" deep 10 days ago is now 7".
