Let the crowd cheer, ice fishing season is already here! The first shacks are out on Little Bay de Noc! I can just see all those Troll faces turning green with envy! :rolleyes: Ribbing aside, I drove up to Kipling today and there are a handful of shacks out there today. I watched a guy drive a 4 wheeler out to the furthest one out on the south side of the first reef. I talked to him when he drove back. He said he had 5 inches of ice when he set up the day before. He was a big guy on a big 4 wheeler, so the ice must have been pretty good. I wouldn't recommend taking machines out just yet, but foot traffic should be fine. So far, weekend weather is looking good. I'll let you know how things went on Monday.

Now that I have had the chance to "rib back", thanks for the report. I may get up your way on business this winter and will stop in to sample some of your bait, if I do.
A buddy of mine used to own a bait shop in Charlevoix and he started praying for a cold snap, midway through deer season, for both his own fun and his profit margin for the winter.
