crocker question

How is the ice rounding beacon's cove? I think I'm going to head out there later in the week and want to park at crocker and just round in front of beacon's.

I tried just that today and decided I wanted to not risk it. At the end of the wall is a working crack that had open water flushing up and down in it. The crack is about a foot wide, and yeah I could jump it, but I chickened out. The crack goes all the way south to the open water that is from the spillway.

Fished there today. Started out at South River Rd in the morning and got skunked. So we moved down and went out at the DNR launch at Crocker. Didn't make it out past the marina but in the cove there was a good 12"+ of ice. We caught about 200 fish between the two of us but only 5 were keepers.

I wouldn't test that crack. That wall is the place where it opens first, frequently. Pay your money at Gino's and be safe.
