Anyone know where I might find on of these? I need one before Thursday night and my local spot (Lakeside) is out. I'm headed to some thick ice this weekend and would love to have one. I'd be willing to rent one if necessary.

I bought the ice master II which I purchased online. I bought mine from Fish USA. I love it. It works really well.

Bring a couple of batts, and keep them in a cooler, wrapped in a towel with one of those disposable handwarmers. The little bag kind, not the lighter fluid, or the charcoal kind. They don't last forever, they just drill more holes if they are warm. Capnhook

I was just about to post about these today...how well do they work?

What type of drill do you need? Will an 18V Black and Pecker Firestorm do the trick?

Just make sure you keep the bore diameter on the small side. 4"-5" The bigger you go, the less holes you drill. Capnhook

What size battery do you need to use to drill through ice with a five inch auger? Thanks

I have two (1) year old batteries for a 19V Craftsman cordless. As I hear it, the ice is almost 2' thick where I will be this weekend. This will be my first time using the set-up; I will post results on Sunday night. My hope is I will get at least 15 holes per battery. I think I really only need 10 per battery. We'll see!

Adding to Capnhook suggestion,I fill a two liter bottle full of hot tap water and place it in the cooler along with scrap pieces of foam for cushioning and insulation. The batteries will stay toasty warm all day. Also, I found that having sharp blades along with a warm battery makes a big difference on quantity of holes. Finally, I do not use the adapter on anything larger than a 6" laser. Hope this helps
