The lake looked to be losing a bit of ice in the new baltimore area with that north wind! Alot of open water out there now! Need warm weather and rain!

Not after tonight. We have seen the last of the major ice making cold nights for this season. There will be nights when new skim ice forms but the winter is winding down fast.

The rest of the lake has lots of ice
Hopefully it breaks up and we can start to hit the upper Detroit River by the end of the month. Got some new Raps and spoons that need testing. Might not be a lot of Walleyes in the river yet but I can still tune the lures.

Just getting out for the first time of the year, making sure the boat is running good, batterys are charged, is exciting. Then, let the fishing begin, I can hardly wait......:fish:

Just picked it up from my mother in laws. (store it behind her house during the winter) Put the shanty and ice gear away yesterday. Might still get out once next weekend, but I've had it with my ice luck this year. Come on Ice out!

Unless you live in Port Huron the ice on lake Huron and the cold water keep it colder up here longer. The lake also seems to funnel in North wind as where other places it could be blowing from a warmer direction.A matter of 5-10 miles inland makes all the difference on how warm or cold it will be up this way.

Lake Hurons southern portion is completely full of ice with warmer weather and some north wind there will be lots of ICE coming down the river. The lake is about 70% ice covered, very impresive satelite view from space today.Shows some big cracks about 1/3rd up in the southern portion.Becareful if you plan on going out there:yikes::lol:
