Here in Port Huron we've been hammered by 2 good snows. There have been people on sleds everywhere. Been riding the back roads for 3 days now. The river isn't frozen yet, but soon. This is what it was like when we were kids. It's a bonus when you don't have to drive 300 miles to find snow.
Nice and cold, the sleds running great.

Idyl,
Sounds like a lot of fun. Just watch for those drain pipes that are at the bottom of culverts. Hate to hear you stick a ski in one.
There were a couple of sleds running around down here in Southern Wayne County. Not enough for me though. Really don't want to tear the suspension down for a hyfax change before I get north.

Some friends got busted by the DNR a few years back, but they were leaving a bar. When we're riding the roads, it's usually bad enough that the law doesn't care. Red alert conditions. Cars can barely get down the road. We passed the sherriff and he never blinked. When the river freezes, everyone rides down there and you don't have to worry about it.
I think Port Huron has gotten the most snow in the state. We got 12 inches 10 days ago then another 10 on Sun/Mon. You'd never know it because right out of town they only have maybe 6-8 inches. All the snow was within 10 miles of the lake. Starting to melt today and the roads are all ice now. Fun while it lasted.

Idylmoments,
Do you live in the City or Township? There is a guy who lives on the corner of 10th and Holland (in the city) that has a new Artic Cat Firecat. On the first big snow, he was riding around town. The cops couldent catch him, so they just went to his house and waited for him. The Black river can be fun when it gets thick enough.

I live in the city, but keep my sled at my parents in the township. There's a bean field-soon to be housing right at the end of their road and that field behind Ross Church. I did get a warning for riding in the park across the street from my house last year. You can't get out of it when the tracks lead right to your front door. Did your buddy get a ticket or warning?
Now I'm not saying that I ride on the roads and break the law all the time. But when it's too deep for a car to get down the road, or there aren't any cars on the road, you can't hurt anything. Last night we were out in Smiths Creek riding the roads and fields. Monday night there were more sleds at the gas station on Lapeer than there were cars.
My friends are going to Newberry this weekend for muzzle loader and a little riding. I'll give you guys the trail report.
Dieseldude, it wouldn't be worth trailering over here to ride. But it's fun when you can get out after work and blast around for an hour.
