Been working on some new ways to copy our latest bait source in the Pond
The old ones like my sculpins and Pig Boats have worked very well, but they ride hook down which becomes an issue once the weeds take hold later in the season.
Clousers seem to come into their own at that point. Taking that into consideration I played around with a woolhead hiding the hourglass eyes inside the head
After seeing a few of these gobies caught while fishing for perch I took a good look at them and noticed that the pectoral fins are very distinctive and oversized compared to the body.
I had a bunch of short rubber legs that were scrap from tying other patterns and tried to duplicate the "rays" of these fins on a bug
I'm telling you, this critter is very shy. I have taken about a dozen pictures of him, but only a few have turned out for some reason... :gaga:
Even during his inception he tried to hide under the vise...LOL

A side view before I dusted him off

I finally trapped him in my hand

This is only a prototype and I will add dorsal spines to the final product
Hopefully his shyness is attributed to him being a part of the food chain :D
