I was on Reeds Friday morning for about 2 hrs.. The fishing has picked up a lot . 40 crappie in 2 hrs. and most of that time was getting the line down to 36 ft. to bottom then up 8 to 10 ft. to the fish, then reeling them in and taking them off. It was none stop for about an hour, the best I've had this year. Same baits, 1/8 gold Forage Minnow tipped with spikes, kept a limit of 9-12 inch crappie. Watch the shoreline, the small bay by the Firebarn was open water, (the canoe launch area), if you go on the wall to the north about 15 ft. it was fine. The rest of the lake has lost about 8 to 10 inches of ice, now about 9 inches, watch for the 10 inch power auger holes they are now 12 inches after the run off into them. Be careful after this snow fall, it will cover those holes with a thin layer of ice, you might get a wet foot. Be careful and good luck, with the forecast for the next week the shoreline should harden up again.

Sounds like fun
I drove by Thur and Fri didnt see anyone out on the ice
The way the ice was looking I didnt dare venture out. Looked like alot of pressure cracks, water on top, some open shoreline and even a few open spots.

:yeahthat:

I went out last night with a buddy (IceT) from aboout 9 or so until 1:00 am. Yes sir, "potholes" everywhere! It was kind of spooky at night with all the dark spots around, but I drilled holes periodically and never found less than 8 or so inches of ice. Unfortunately, the fish didn't cooperate. Between the two of us, we only iced 9 fish, the biggest being 10". I think I'll head out again tomorrow early and try to find some gills.

Take care...Sid

Anyone been on Reeds Lake recently, or have an ice report?
Not sure if the rain we had did the ice in that we had left....
Looks like a good day to be on the ice, sunny, cold and not too windy :coolgleam
