Houghton Lake

Anyone have a ice report for Houghton Lake.

We have a group of 10 heading up there tonight!

Don't need a fishing report (unless you have a good one).

Just worried about the ice and if we can access it. We'll be on the south-west side.

There are quite a few soft spots where the water was running down into old cracks. Now they are covered by a layer of snow and skim ice making them very hard to see. The same thing has happened anywhere water has been flowing into the lake. Truck & quad eaters for sure. The water is really dirty too.

A truck went through on Higgins.

My friend talked to Lyman today & he said there is only one access point that he is aware of (west side) that would cause problems. He also said there is up to 18" of ice & no water.

I was up there all day today and the ice is perfect. I ran all over with my quad, no problems. Water is NOT dirty. Nothing going on today fish-wise though. Good luck.

Fished there all day today went to the middle grounds. Ice was 15 iches where i measured it. there are some big holes. ice is soft its not the good hard ice. the gills bit ok but not great. and the water seemed pretty clear. i wouldnt drive my truck out there now.
