Lake Leelanau

I'm heading over to Lake Leelanau this weekend just looking for some reports, how are they biting and what are the ice conditions? Going to be staying on the south end but was also considering fishing the north end. Thanks.

Be careful....my buddy called a couple days ago and said the ice an almost every lake in area has gone to crap. S. Lake Leelanau can get sketchy in some areas.

20's and 30's for the next two weeks. Wo'nt make much ice that way and
the sun is getting higher in the sky every day.:sad:

Even if it's in the 20's it will harden up the ice that became soft in the warmer temps. You can set water in a freezer thats set at 32 degrees and it turns to ice. So as long as it's 32 or lower its all good. The ice probably wont gain much thickness but the 10 in. that are left will be fine, but like the DNR says "no ice is safe ice":cool:

I fished southern end of South LL on Saturday (perch/pike/walleye-skunked) and drilled through 12" in multiple holes. Today (Sunday), my buddy and I hit the north end of North LL and were drilling through an average of 10". We ended up with 9 keeper perch sight fishing in 12' our last hour out (3-4pm). That was fun in that clear water. We also pulled up a mud puppy! First one I've ever seen; I had to take it off the hook for my buddy:rolleyes:.

It was our first time on either lake and we were walking, so the trip was fun but not so productive. Those lakes are BIG with a limited number of access points for trudgers not in the know.

Thanks for the reports, I made it out Saturday on the south end accessed @ Perrins Landing fished from 8am-12pm only got 1 little perch. I moved 3 times just couldn't get anything to bite, next time I will try to north end.

fished the north end 4 days last week....horrible. The fishin stunk. Caught a few dink perch and a cisco.

geez thats not too good a day, but thats ice fishin in Feb. warm up this week unfortunately. too bad for the lakes. but thinkin bays de noc will be nice n safe. one more week of the fun stuff for the waldos. think im gonna head north, leave the lady at home and go for the big ones.
