Anyone have any updates for Kent County ice/fishing conditions?

My swimming pool has a good 8 inches on it yet, but I can never catch anything out there. :coco:

I didn't cut any holes, but I stopped by Reeds yesterday, and there was a guy fishing out in the typical crappie location. Only one guy though. I stopped and walked out a bit, and the ice was broken up a bit by the shore, but beyond that, it looked black and solid as can be. I'm going to head out there tonight, and I'll report afterwards.

Personally, I would not be heartbroken a bit if the warm spell shaved 8 or so inches off the lake! There was plenty to spare for sure. Consistency could be a problem though. I'll let you guys know later.

Stopped by cranberry on the Kent/Ottawa line. 3-8 inches of ice. Last spot I tested was 3 inches! Most was in the 5 inch range. The shore is a little shaky but had to walk on some 2x6's to get out. Also on the north side there is a pretty good crack about 20-30 feet out. But, the lake appears to have some springs out there and some spots in 15 foot of water were only three inches! I got kind of worried drilling with my 8 inch auger. Also, there are 4-5 permanent shanties out there some are over turned. Watch out for some of the old spearing holes they really looked shaky.

Its amazing we lost a foot of Ice in 3-4 days!
