I'll be in Traverse City this weekend and am hoping to get out on Green Lake for some smelt fishing. Any fishing reports/ice conditions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Haven't been to Green in about 2 weeks. Last time I was there the ice was at least 12" thick, but I don't know what this heatwave and rain have done to it. I would think there'd still be enough thickness for it to be safe, but I'd be real cautious and use your spud.
The bite was okay when I was there. But, the smelt in Green are very, very small this year. You might think about trying Crystal. The smelt there are much, much larger. I haven't had a chance to fish Crystal yet this year, but from what I hear the bite on Crystal so far's been at least as good as the bite at Green.
