Early out today. probably first person on the ice. Couldn't sleep so out I went. Lots of slush but still a good 10-12 inches or so of ice. Saw 1 GIANT jumbo. tried to mouth the minnow but wouldnt take it. Caught a half dozen or so 6 er's that went back. Lots of lookers. 2 rockies before day break. Fished in tight today. 4 fow.
Also had the biggest mud puppy I ever saw in my hole. I had to hit him in the head to keep him from my minnow.
So goes ice fishing for me this year.

We were out there this morning as well. Made about 3 moves between 5 fow and 7 fow. We had some fish pass through in all three spots. Mostly 5-6 inchers but a 7.5, 8's and the occasional 9-10 as well. Fish were fairly aggressive. 2 of us ended up with roughly 15 keepers.

I also saw a MONSTER. I hate to guess how big he was. If 15's weren't so rare, I would say he was 15. But he was more likely 13-14. He came in to look at my bait but a large rock bass grabbed it first :mad: and away he went. Looked like a football with stripes.

Water is still crystal clear, not sure how long that will last.

Made the second shift. 3 six inchers for the day. Water cloudy....evening bite never happened.......pathetic.:nono: Was decent walking at least and a nice day to be out for sure.:)

Went with a few friends n/e in 6-7 fow. Three perch big one 9 in. Three giant sunfish....9.5 in. One 8 lb. northern, Awsome fight!
My synopsis is the perch fishing sucks out there right now!:(
