How was the ice today? Do you think that we will lose the ice after this melt?

How was the ice today? I dont plan on going out, I just want to know when we will have safe ice again.

Thanks,

Pat

Man you people worry too much,The ice on LSC is in great shape right now.LSC is not lake Erie which is a huge expanse compared to how small LSC is.You can have quite a few days of above freezing weather and its not going to hurt the ice its only going to melt the snow off and it will refreeze at night. The ice on the frozen lake cools the surface of the ice down at night once the sun goes down.Could be different on cloudy nights when the lows remain above freezing. The only thing thats going to hurt the ice in the near future would be alot of rain with above freezing temps or if temps stay like today for several days in a row.Remember this is not lake Erie which is only partialy frozen. The temps over the ice covered lake are probaly already down below freezing tonight. Its like a freezer the coldness of the ice will keep things in check for a while yet.

I think it will be fine despite the warm weather in the week ahead..The northern part of the lake will be fine for sure the southern part could be in trouble tho.. The normal spot's to watch out for would be river mouth's spillways stress cracks and wind not a good idea to be crossing..when the shores lets go then u need to worry .....Be safe Mark
