Prior to last season, i purchased one of their DX 3000 shanties.

I bought it as a replacement for my 8 year old Shappell 2000, and its the perfect shanty for traveling on foot...its light, quick to set up and well built.

At the beginning of this season, i removed it from storage, and noticed that one of the windows had become discolored, with a yellowish tinge to it, and thought nothing of it......after three trips out this year, that window, along with the other window had completely fallen apart.

I emailed them with the pictures of what happened, and without question or argument, they offered to send me a completely new cover at no charge, and it arrived THE NEXT DAY.

If i could post the pics so you guys could see what happened i would, but all you need to know is that if you buy a Shappell and it fails....THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.

Great company and great people there....a rarity in todays times.

I enjoy many of their products. Glad to hear they stood behind their product. May you have many years of warmth, and may the floor smell fishy!

I had the same experience with my 2.0 Rover. Tub split in one corner. Called and two days later my new tub was sitting at Franks. Had some issues with the fabric wearing thin. Very next day a brand new cover sitting on the front porch ups overnight so I did'nt have to miss any fishing time. Great people and a great company. I advertise for them everychance I get.

i purchased a shappell rover 1.0 this year and the bench seat had a huge knot smack dead center of it. being about 250lbs it only took me two trips with the new shanty to break the seat in half! i e-mailed shappell and they shipped a new one immediately. great company and great product. -Brandon

Eveyone here is happy with their service and that is a good thing. But somebody at the company should take a good look at their inspection department, somebody is not doing their job.

Have you called them and told them that?

A company that stands behind their product is one that I want to do business with. Not only that, but it's the type of company that we need more of in this world, especially right now when everyone is hurting.

I've got too much cheap chinese crap.

I really hope that when this whole economic bs is worked out, we go back to the days of yesteryear, when you could actually get someone on the phone and get a problem worked out. Ya know, back when everything wasn't disposable.

I miss the ice, haven't made it up north once this year.

Maybe they buy these because they don't like to be sitting in the dealer service dept. every week or driving a loaner becouse they new truck is out of commission.

The shanties are just "put together" in MI,, they buy the materials from all over the place(China included, probably). With that said,, it is nice to hear that they're standing behind their products. It never used to be like that,, they used to tell you to take it back to where you bought it.

Honda, toyota have had more recalls then the big 3...wonder why? As toyota became #1 in world wide sales their quality also suffered which ended up spiking the tgw/1000 at an alarming rate. Oh my friend you wont see this published in the detroit papers , because Knight- Ridder who runs the paper is majority owned by who ....1,2,3---you guessed right ...TOYOTA. So before you go spouting off at the mouth about the big three check your facts and check your american bashing personality at the door. What kind of vehicle do you drive anyways? --honda , toyota ...let me guess real nice Kia rio . Look at the foreclosure sign next to your house, SEE IT!! Its because of american bashing , foriegn product buying people like you that contribute to the problem and sit on the sidelines and complain when you could've bought something made in this country and i help support the economy and your neighbor whos out of a job. The big 3 have made huge quality strides since the 80"s and 90's and have either matched or SURPASSED the foreign competitors in many divisions, so your arguement is with out merit.

AMEN BROTHER! it's good to hear someone with your point of view. i too am sick and tired of the america bashing. we all need to pull together during these hard times. you can bet your ass my grandfathers didn't fight for this country so fellow americans could blatantly bash it. this country may struggle and stumble at times and has in the past but, America has NEVER fallen and as americans it's our job to support our country and troops in every way possible and make sure she never falls. if this subject doesn't put a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye you're a sad excuse for an american. just my 2cents. GOD bless America -Brandon

self depricating behavior drives me nuts. i'm sick of the apologetic, and guilty attitude that some people carry around.

btw, shappell has been nothign but great to deal with the one time i emailed them (to ask a question and to order a ski kit).

I dont mean to be so harsh , but sometimes people need a reality check.

Here is your reality check. I bought a dura max the first or second year they came out. I owned it for 7 months and in that time it was in the shop at least 2 or 3 weeks a month. The dear gave me a Dodge shadow as a loaner and I drove that more than my truck. I knew the factory rep on a first name basis. The lemon law did not apply as it was never the same thing that was wrong. GM would not take the truck back or offer any help on a different one so I just had to smile and bend over. The last time I picked it up from the dealer I went to Ford and bought an F 250 powerstroke and it has never been back except for normal maintance. Now back to the subject I think shappel is great company to deal with . I hope that with many other companys follow the example set by shappel

Scout 2, sorry that you ran into that situation with the Chevy truck, They did have problems with the duramax when they first came out, same with Ford and some of their diesels made by navistar. Do you think this only happens to american brands? ABSOLUTLEY NOT!! Its very frustrating to be at the dealer with a myriad of problems, but its YOUR FAULT THAT YOU TOOK IT IN THE POOPER, instead of working the network and getting the problems solved . You start with the service advisor, service manager(and work him over) ,General mgr, owner, district service mgr, warranty assistance, and on up the ladder until you get the problem solved. Thank you for doing the right thing and still purchased a nice 250. As a consumer you have many rights and dont think for a second that you dont. Its time consuming to get what you want , but so is going to work and making that money to get the vehicle in the first place. The ultimate decision of you buying a competitors product was a slap in the face to gm, and i would let them know what transpired during your short ownership of the truck and a picture of the new truck so they can realize the mistakes and not lose market share in the future.

Not knocking anyone here Snowman11. Just reading Hi-tekrednecks post and a seat with a knot right in the middle should have been caught by someone, then there would have been no need to send another. Things such as that can be avoided and save everyone concerned a lot of trouble. JMO

Look, you're right to be upset if you got a bad vehicle. It happens to each and every make and model. The only thing I ask if you choose to drive a vehicle from some foreign Auto Manufacturer, please JUST DON"T CALL YOURSELF, AMERICANS! Especially if you what to send your American dollars to the country that bombed Pearl Harbor and killed American soldiers, or tortured and killed Americans in jungles and tunnels, instead of an American Maufacturer, where the profits have a better chance of staying here! Thanks for your consideration.

Bought my Shappell from Lake Side in S.C.S about 5 years ago. Used it less than 10 times. Two problems, threads around zippers coming apart hard to close doors. Plastic fishing hole covers had velco strips to keep doors open. I use my foot or the heater to keep open now. Bad engineering.
