Lots of big perch in 5.5 feet of water less than 1/4 mile out. I got my limit then threw back anything under 8 inches. Took home about 35 or so, many of which were over 10 inches.
They wanted lively minnows and would shoot into the hole from outside and attack it if you could keep it away from the smaller ones for awhile. I had to spear some of them if they tried to leave the scene. Jigs did not bring them in, but they would hit a jig if you dropped it in front of their face when they were chasing a minnow.
Hook your minnow as shallow as possible so that it keeps active, and plan on feeding many of the perch with them.
Jumbo perch and sunfish followed the bass into the hole many times. I only got 1 of the big sunfish though and it measured at 9 1/2 inches. Started fishing about 12:30 and it was pretty much non stop. They are starting to school up finally.
Good luck to all this weekend. Hoping to get out again monday.

Nice!!!

Its amazing how much they move from day to day.... just proves that what was hot yesterday probably isnt going to be tommorow.

I hope to be back @ it monday out there....maybe sunday if my dughter wants to go and its not too sloppy.

We too saw lots of big bass and sunfish on the camera. Water was gin clear! Large schools of sunfish! Few perch though? Only 1 10 incher all afternoon. Sunfish werent interested either. Minnows, wigglers. Should have brought th quad so i'd be more inclined to move. Great day out though, hanging with my brother!

They were tight lipped today. Hit about a dozen different spots north and south of cotton, close in, farther out. They just didn't want to hit. I threw all kinds of different jigs, spoon, raps, all different baits, nothing but 1 flippin perch (9") small sunnie and a nice bass. I have to admit, it was fun pulling the bass out. Anyway, they just weren't hitting. Talked to a few guys, and no good reports. Alot of people moving. Saw a guy out there I use to work with and he had a few, one nice one and he got them early and quite a bit out there. Oh well. Off to a new spot next week.

I know, I know. I had them in the van but didn't take them out. Was a little nervous about punching a hole in the new shanty, and I had my brother in law with me. He's 300 lbs so he takes up a little room. He did make sure the shanty didn't blow away though. I need to take him out more often now that he's not working weekends.

A friend and I hit Cotton and were setup before sun up this morning. Had lines in the walter by 7:00 am. Fished 4 fow until 9:00. Nothing not even a bite saw a few swim in nad out but no takers. Moved out to 5.5 fow, again no action. Tried minows, spikes, even tipped with minnow head with jigging raps, tear drops, ken's spoon, swedish pimple, nothing. Packed up and headed in at 11:00.
Went to Brandenburg, talked to a few guys and they had same report, nothing. It was a great day to be out despite the wind. I really thought today we would have slammed them. Maybe next weekend.
