That is correct, drivers lisc. and birth cert. If your taking a 4 wheeler or sno-machine. you should also have registration and insurance. Altho Ive never been checked for these on the ice, I always carry them just incase. also helmet and "rigid" tow (no rope) bar if your towing anything on ice with your machine.

I called the saginaw and bay county clerks office a few weeks back and they told me a drivers license and a stamped birth certificate is what i needed and passports were not needed till june 1st. Were going over to canada on the 26th.

Me and my g-friend crossed in the Soo a couple of weeks ago and we both had our b-certificates and licenses. The guy at the U.S border hasseled the hell out of us. Then she went back across a few days later and they pulled her and a friend out of her car and searched them. They even went through the pics on their cell phones. I understand we need to have safe borders but it's just getting ridiculous. Canada say's come on in, but we can barely get back into our own country.

Thet were looking for naked pics or drug photos to link you and have reasonable cause/suspicion to tear your vehicle apart. Just be courteous , respectful , yes sir no sir , answer their questions and gtfo. Any drunk drivings in the past will show up when the mandatory passport/nexus card system is in place (june/july)and then you wont beable to go to canada-eh

Ya, but Canada is not asking for a passport or nexus card the last I heard. Has something changed? Otherwise, it is a runaway US govt bureaucracy that will require the documentation.

Sometimes, somebody just really enjoys those "power trips". You find that everywhere, not just the border crossings.
