So I'm just staring to have a little time to get back out on the ice after a few years. I hook up with a couple m-s members who really put the time in & know their stuff. Taking a quad to make it easy, on the ice, setup on "the spot" & ready to go before first light. "we're out for the day or our limit" I'm told "under 9.5" goes back". Even bought myself a new spear the night before! 8 am, 5 guys walk up & decide they also want to fish "the spot" and setup with 15 feet of us .
Fast forward, 12 hrs later, 3 guys, 5 fish on the ice and we're callin' it. Quad, with 1 flat tire, makes the first haul back, gets 150 yds - stuck! We drag our gear up to it, push it out & off she goes! 200 yds - stuck, Re-do. 150 yds - finally drag our butts up to it now the tally is 1 flat & 1 frozen :help:! I'm dying lookin for the O2 :gaga: ! 1/2 mile and 2.5 hrs later we make it to the launch :woohoo1:.
So after 3 days of recovery, I thinking "self, when ya gonna be able to go out again?"
Thanks guys for letting me tag along!

Thankfully it doesnt always go that way! Im sure the next time will be much beter for ya! As far as the perch, 9.5" is pretty steep. 8.5" maybe. youde have to put many hours/days in to get a limit of 9.5" on this side. 8" and up i usually keep. good luck to ya next time!

Every once in a while I need a smack in the head with a big chunk of reality...

Hey Boedy,
It's all good, still better than being home. Never caught any perch sitting at the house. And your right lunch was good, compliments to the cook, excellent job! Next time we'll really get 'em, I think that was just a practice run anyway, to work out the kinks.

Ya know,,, I read this thread last night and I'm thinkin' to myself... "wow,, that sounds almost as bad as the trip we had that day"... :(

Then it finally dawns on me.... that's US he's talkin' bout!! The story isn't completely accurate though..... it was 10 times WORSE than Doug describes... Oh,, and by the way, the other rear tire was flat as well..:dizzy:.. The worst part was the next morning, waking up at 6am to drip, drip, drip, drip. The ice backed up under my shingles and is coming in the windows,, I spent the next 5 hours with a hammer and screwdriver chipping a foot of ice outta my gutters and roof...:( THAT BLEW!!!
