I just bought one a few weeks ago and love it. I also just bought a green underwater light the other day and noticed when I use the light the screen on the x67 goes wako? I had the light about 8ft away from the shanty and the battiery was inside the shanty. Has anyone had this problem, and what to do to fix it ?

I've used a green light before, and never had that problem. You might try using your noise rejection.

What did it do?

Sounds like you were smelt fishing. If that is the scenario it was more than likely caused by too many other electronics in the area. Have to adjust the noise rejection in that case.....
Last year I was in the middle of smelt town on Crystal lake and my FL18 was just about useless given there were probably 50 other graphs/flashers running within 100 feet.......

yea smelt fishing at higgens. First time this happen I was surrounded by people and there was a angled line from top to bottom on the screen that would appear every 3 sec. then when the people left the x67 worked fine. The last time I went I used a green light and fished at least 100 yards from every one else, every time I hooked the light to the battiery the screen had a bunch of zig zags on it like w w w w w w w but bigger. I will try the noise reduction see what happens.

are you hooking the green light to the battery that runs your 67?

I have one of the flourescent lights and if I run it off the same battery that my vexilar is on, it makes a bunch of green lines on the screen.

I'm pretty sure it's not good to run off the same battery, won't hurt you vexilar but you can't get rid of the interfearance , msuiceman probably can explain better than myself.

The electronic ballasts on the portable lights make a lot of 'noise' which will travel down the power leads for your electronics and create porblems. Use a separate supply for the light.
tommy-n, didn't i just read your rant about lowrance guys shouldn't be offering their opinions in a vex thread? Now I see you in a Lowrance thread offering your opinion. It must be 'do as I say, not as I do'.....poke poke.....;)

ih772 stated what i was getting at. if its flourescent, the ballasts could easily cause "noise". it may be model of light to model of light.... i cant' remember if we had that issue at all last time we used ours... but then again, we may have put it on a seperate battery.

It seems to be one of the side effects of inexpensive electronic ballasts, they superimpose noise on the voltage feeding other devices.
I think I tried it a few years ago when my light battery went dead and I tried to run it off the same battery powering my old Vex. I think I remember it causing problems with the display. I use an LED light now, so I don't know if the fluorescent lights cause any sort of 'noise' on the Lowrance.

Its a brinkman QBeam light cheap 20 dollars I think. I ran the light off a seperate battery , maybe its the light, I bought anouther cheap light today car headlight style I try that if it still does it must be the noise reduction. I wanted a white light anyway.
