I usualy just use minnows on a teardrop or bare single but lately that hasnt been working. I know the fish are there but they wont bite anything. any ideas?

I would try a glow mini tear drop with a single spike.

The bite's been a little tougher than usual this year it seems...my best rig this season has been a 4mm fiskas glow wolfram tear w/ a spike.

Has anybody tried putting garlic powder on their spikes 24hrs before you use them? I heard that on some tv show. Haven't tried it but the way the bites going it can't hurt.

I've been doing pretty well on them lately. They require a bit of work though. Orange, pink, and green have been the best colors before night. The smaller the better.
I jig aggressivly to get their attention. Once I see them on my sonar, I've been teasing them a little bit at a time to get them off the bottom. I shake, reel a little, and shake some more. Once they get about 2-3 feet above the bottom, they bite.
Been using waxies mostly, but small minnows on a glow jig after dark. You gotta mess with them right now, get em pissed enough to bite.
Biggest Crappie I ever hooked was on a Stunner ficious jig and minnow..that pig had to be 2lbs but got off at the hole..I've got crappie on glow green bug eye ficious jigs and waxies before too -Bryon

I read - a small red treble hook tipped with a minnow - tied off on a 14" leader with a number 7 splitshot. The past 5 outings using this rig has produced many a papermouth.
But, he forgot to tell us what line is his leader??
and where is his honeyhole? ;)
