Red teardrop with a wax worm or a spike works well for me. I start about foot off the bottom but like most fish they will suspend at diff. depth so you do have to try diff. depths till you find them.

We used a small treble hook with skeen or eggs on the hook. We use a 1 oz sinker about a foot above the hook. Drop her down then reel up a foot off bottom. Should put the hook on bottom and the weight a foot off:dizzy:. Mind you this was is in 100 feet of water. And over a chumed hole:D. We just let the rod sit on the floor of the shanty and watch the tip for the slighest movement. Then Wamo! Its the best ice fishing Ive experinced in my life when you can get on a chummed hole. Good Luck
