Te time had come to fire up the pit and get some beef on for the big game. These two hunks of beef were each just over 14 lbs. Arose at 3 am to get the logs lit and the grates cleaned up. Nice lookin Feb mornin, clear and calm, with distand sounds of owls in the woods.
I shoveled the snow around the pit and woodpile the day before, and after a few hrs of heat, the walkway around the pit grew a lil in size.

after that pic, I took this one,

Shoulder Clod on the right, Brisket on the left.
At 12 hrs exactly,I took the clod out of the pit, to foil it and rest for an hr.

The brisket was already out at the ten hr mark, and still resting.I sliced the flat, made up some burnt ends out of the point, and pulled some of the clod into shredded beef.

while they were resting, I made up a batch of stuffed mushrooms to take to the event too.Earlier in the day, I also did 4 fatties, and a nice big pan of baked/smoked beans.

the last pic is the pulled beef at halftime, I came home and pulled the rest of the clod. It was mighty fine and very tasty.

Anyone else do anything special for the supperbowl game?

Dan, I did nothing special, as you know I hate sports. I did however cook breakfast here at home for the family, about 10 people. I can't wait until it get a little warmer, I need to burn some wood!

That thing is sweet, and look's very well built. I was a welder / fitter for almost 25 year's and loved to make my own stuff from tree stands , climbing sticks, hitch hauler's, trailer's. I blew out my back in 2000 and had three surgerie's in two year's so I had to give it up. When I see something like that it make's me long to get back in the shop and knock one of those out.

Looking good Dan, we ended up eating fried perch and home made beer battered onion rings for dinner, then pizza rolls and bosco sticks for halftime. Sorry no pix.

I was eyeballing that class, but Wednesdays are tough to get off for me. I'm sure it would be worth the time to attend though.

Sorry to hear about your Back. I have had some issues with mine in the past, but have been lucky and satyed away from the knife.

Here is the link to the Lang website if anyone is interested. http://www.pigroast.com/
Mine is a second generation model and has a couple other mods to it that are not on the new ones.
Thanks for the kind comments.:)
