Thunder Bay

Noticed a few shanties on the thunder bay river in Alpena and one off the mouth of the marina near the boat launch. I am thinking about giving it a try but I am not sure what they are catchin. Any tips or info?

Pike mostly in the marina. On another post the was a report on some perch in the river. We used to jig in the river for eyes but never did really good. Clems may be able to point you in a right direction. Heard of a decent batch of gills coming from behind the college there, but that was 3rd hand info! Good Luck and let us know how you did.

i have caught walleye and whitefish on the mouth of the river. i jig blues with a gold pimple, but havent been on the mouth yet this year... let me know how the ice is if u go

I ended up having to head out of town last weekend and didn't make it out. thanks for the info. I'll post a report if I am able to make it out any time soon.
