just wonderin if anyone has any suggestions on crappie bait. jigs, soft plastics, live bait, etc...:fish:
My best lure for Crappie and Perch is a 1/8 oz. Northland Forage Minnow tipped with Spikes.

Must be nice to build a specific rod, for specific species in a specific lake. ;)

in the past always used small treble with minnows. this year got some ficious "zitz" tipped with waxies and they have passed the minnows up for the jig. have gotten some slabs to stock my freezer. what a blast to catch them one after the other an not have to battle the minnows onto the hook.

I don't personally fish specifically for Crappies but I always catch quite a few each winter using a white glow tiger jig with a waxworm. I have also caught them near dark with a dead minnow hooked though the head on a horizontal hanging jig. The neat thing about this method is you don't have to wait for the float to be taken down under the ice like you do live minnow fishing. As soon as you feel a tug you set the hook.

I've done the best this season using my smelt rig.
a glow bead followed by a red hook...then 12" below that a 25mm blue glow hali perch
http://www.fishusa.com/tackleshop/assets/product_images/42051053.jpg followed by a glow hali chain hook.
Most of the time I have both hooks tipped with rosey red fathead minnows, but sometimes I have the lower hook tipped with a spike.
