Any charter recommendations for St. Joe, planning a trip Easter weekend, have never gone with a charter. Looking for both positive or negative feedback.

Thanks,

John

As that "double Paws guy" said... Tim Shaffer along with Russ Clark are 2 of the better captains out of St. Joe. They both fish year 'round (river & big lake).

They will both catch fish if there are fish to be caught!!

I would second the recommendation for Coldwater Charters. In addition to being a site sponsor, Mike's a good guy. In my 2 trips with him, he has always put our group on fish.

I think the guy is looking for a river charter, and I think Mike(Coldwater) only does big lake stuff. Tim Shaffer is a good guy, Ive bsed with him a few times at Berrien.

Yes, I'm looking for a big water charter, although I know it's pushing the season.

Thanks for all the help -

John

I stand corrected, I don't know how many guys have their boats in that early. Although the fishing can be very good for coho, browns and steelhead.

sundowner charters. cpt. gary gamble: started captaining charters 1 year after the first returns to st. joe harbor. very knowledgable guy knows southern lake michigan better than anybody and he always gets you into numbers and size. kory first mated for him for 5 seasons. when days were slow gary had his clients boxed(limited) out consistantly. he'll put you on fish and won't take you out to the pierheads for the rodeo if the coldwater is in close like some of the other charters out of st. joe. which captain you decide to go with is up to you.

hope info. helps,

mark

Thanks folks for the recommendations. I know all the other captains that were mentioned above and they all are very good Captains and better yet good guys. With the economic times we all are facing, every thing helps. St. Joseph is "the" most consistant port on Lake Michigan in Michigan for fishing throughout the year and the spring fishing can be world class.

Thanks again
Mike

I have fished with most of them and been a 1st mate on a few. That said, it would depend on whose boat is in the water. I agree, If Mike's boat is in, he is a sponsor and we support our sponsors. He will not steer you wrong, he runs a great program. If his boat is not in, any of them can put you on fish. That time of year should be a no brainer.
Rusty, Gary, Tim, Levi, Rocket, or any of them, depending if their boat is in the water. Get out and fish...A great time of year.
