Four of us will be heading to Burt Lake this weekend. I haven't been seeing many reports. Has anybody fished it lately? We will be staying on the East side of the lake. Some reports that I read said that they have been doing OK in Maple Bay. We caught some nice perch :fish: last year, but was wondering if somebody could direct us to the "honey hole".:yikes:

Good luck finding the honey hole. I have not had a fish on my finder in the last three days.
Yesterday I went searching for fish in the north arm. Just took my truck and flasher. Started drillling holes, marking the depths, and then waiting for about ten minutes to see if I would flash anything. Nothing. And I mean, nothing.
I moved 18 times, in water from 17' to 25'. Nothing. Today, I will be checking low water depths and deep water depths. 8' to 18' and then out to the deep hole, 35' to 60'. They got to be somewhere.
If anyone is catching on Burt, they are being very tight lipped about it. I have not heard anything about anyone catching anything.

Sorry for the bad news:yikes:

Harry

Thanks for the reply. Are you able to get around on the lake OK? You said that you were out with your truck. We will have a snowmobile, quad, and 3-wheeler with chains.

I guess a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

Most of the traffic on the lake is four wheel trucks. There is not that much snow on the lake, about 4 to 5 inches in most places, but there is a lot of drifting in places.
Snowmachines are going where they want. Not a lot of ATV's, but some are getting around.
There are a lot of trails to most of the favorite fishing spots. This is info in the north arm only. Have not been into White Goose Bay or Maple Bay.
If you are in the North Arm, around Hoppes or Robers Rd, look for the large grey shack with the large windows. Stop and say hi.

Is your shanty a pemanent one on the lake? If we get up to the North Arm, we will look you up. We are staying at a friends place on Mac-A-Vista Rd. We are hoping to be able to get on the lake at the end of their road. Last year we drove our machines down to Frontenac Rd. (Chippewa Beach) and got on at the lake at the public access site. We will have a black two man shanty and a blue two man shanty. We should be out on the lake sometime Friday afternoon.

Most the guys have moved to Mullet, Dodge Point. My Dad has said that its been real slow!!!! His buddy caught a 24 inch Brown the other day but other than that, they havent caught anything in the last week.

I was there this past weekend. Fished Friday/Saturday. No fish on friday- 30mph gusts make it hard to fish. Left after only 1hr of fishing. Enjoyed the white fish at Hoppies we did. Saturday was there early afternoon til dark. Vexilar was quiet until 4:30ish. Landed a 6lb 25.5in Brown, A 12 inch Jumbo Perch. Biggest i ever caught. She was full of eggs.
Missed several other perch. Rest of the crew landed some small walleye's and lost a big one at the hole. Wish i could fish Burt every weekend.

Thanks for the reply back. Hopefully, the weather change will turn the fish on. We'll have good food and drink, even if the fish aren't cooperating:corkysm55

As a matter of fact, I'm leaving work right now, heading for Burt. For sure we're fishing Burt Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow is up in the air still. If you see 2 red Arctic Cat ATV's that's us. We'll launch and fish Maple bay and fish around colonial point, possibly heading towards hoppes and the northern part of the lake.

Sportsman you are a better man than me. The whole lake is a honey hole, the key is finding what part of it they are in....You couldn't pay me to tell or even hint on the world wide web where I am catching my fish right now on Burt. Now if you want to trail along with me and do it the hard way (luck) then that's another story.

Not to worry!! :dizzy: I punched in the coordinates and there is some distance between the two coordinates he gave. Plenty of room for everybody.

You going to be out there this weekend Radar?

I dove down there this summer and it was all broke up...not worth fishing anymore. I have to start a new one. You are right, unless you are lucky enough to be on the fish, it doesn't really matter who's fishing next to you. It's when the whole pack....50 shanties or so move next to you that gets tough.
