Hey fellas, looking for some recommendations on some new lakes to check out this summer for bass. I live in Holland and I would like to stay with in an hour drive.

I'm a northern michigan smallmouth guy transplanted down here, having grown up on Lake Charlevoix. I don't mind going for largemouth instead. I have hit up Muskegon, and Macatawa. I want to find some new water to try this summer. The map looks like Allegan could be some nice water. And how about Kalamazoo Lake by Saugatuck?

Thanks for the help.

Crockery Lake west of Sparta.

The Grand River... just about anywhere! Nice ramp near Nunica on the south side of the river with good access to the river and bayous. Largemouth and smallmouth abound here.

Really, an hour from Holland gives you a LOT of choices... but not much in Ottawa county. I've never had much luck on Allegan Lake... and it's pretty polluted in my opinion. There are quite a few lakes in Musk. county less than an hour from Holland... Wolf Lake comes to mind, it's east of Muskegon and just north of Apple Avenue. Got a 6 pound largemouth from it and several over 4 pounds.

Crockery is good. I worked in Cedar Springs for 3 years so I have done most of the northern kent county lakes. Good stuff.

I assume you really need to hit Wolf Lake in off peak hours and in crappy weather due to the boat traffic? I've boated there but not fished.

Crockery is a well kept secret... shhhhhh!!!! LOL!!

Wolf - Early mornings for sure. Sunday mornings seem best.

You owe it to yourself to venture up to White Lake too... it might be just about an hour from Holland... great fishing for lm, sm, and pike/walleye at times.
