I'm planning on taking a co-worker out icefishing Saturday. He is from France and is here in Michigan only until end of March. He has never ice fished here and I'm considering taking him out on Union but I havent been out there in a couple of weeks since I have been doing pretty good catching some nice Crappie elsewhere. The last couple times out the crappie seemed to have been in hiding so I'm hesitant to go there. One thing I think is awesome about Union is the clarity of the water and the fish I have seen at times is real exciting. but not sure if the fish have been biting lately. The last couple times on Union were disapointing so I hate to drag him out there if things are still slow...
Any recent reports would be appreciated

What are you looking to catch. There is a sizable walleye population in there but best fishing is after dark for them. Why would you want to take a french guy anyways? :dizzy::lol:

I'm sorry he isnt from France, he is from Canada. I meant to say he is a French Canadian. Do you think he will be better accepted now? I was hoping this thread would die off but you had to go and bring it back to life. Thanks buddy

I fished it last Sat afternoon and Sun morning, nothing to speak of Sat but got into a couple good schools of perch Sunday. No wallies or pike.

after getting zero crappie tonight in my honey hole ive decided to go to union lake saturday.
i know where to go to find the perch and have pulled in some 9+ gills several times in the same place. i just want to put him on some action and at the very least im sure we can see some fish and drink some brews.

Stopped and fished for a few hours today. Marked tons of fish that loved to chase the bait but no takers. Threw all I had at them. 22 fow

Fished sunup to about noon today.

Marking huge schools everywhere btw 25 and 35 fow.

Poked many holes zig zagging from 50-20fow tot he sunken island on the north side...dinks to show.

Slush is still a problem in many parts. Saw a quad up to the wheel wells in the mess but he made it through.

Went out yesterday from the boat launch and fished the south east end of the first bay and hit every bit of water we could think of. Fished from 5fow to 27fow moved quite a few times and only found dink perch. I thought it was interesting the way the schools of perch were on the move though- they came in around 15-30 fish at a time mostly dinks fed for about 5 minuets and then all the fish moved on. Out of three guys fishing for 6 plus hours we only ended up with one 9" perch to show for it.

 Only leaves me wondering Where are all the pan fish in this lake?!?!?
