I winterized my boat last year and only had it in the water this season for 5 minutes. I put it in the water, started it, received a phone call and had to take it out of the water and leave. I didnot even put it in gear.
Do I still have to winterize this year?
Thanks,

Ray, depends on how much you care about your boat. The gas needs stabilizer. If not properly treated, the gas in your carbs. turns into laquer, then you've got a real problem. If you have an outboard, the cylinders should probably be fogged. I would still do it to prevent any rusting from condensation. The only thing I wouldn't be concerned with is the gear box oil. If it's an I/O, obviously you need anti-freeze in the blocks.

My outboard is a 40HP Evinrude.
I sure would. Takes 20 minutes or so to protect a few grand. even if you don't change the dope, at least give her a shot of stabil and a fogging.

I agree with ESOX, better to be safe than sorry.
